wh0wh0

Beats, club sounds, footwork, dubstep, trap and drum'n'bass elements played by the drummer? There you go. wh0wh0 is an intense electronic sound, bringing to mind music produced by machines, but created organically by a drums soloist. They are also perfectly corresponding samples, harmonious sounds and overlapping rhythmic layers. The whole thing is being produced in real time using a self-created “cosmic” electronic-drum setup. Jacek Prościński has been active on the 3-city scene for years - he co-creates LLovage together with Olo Walicki, Mu with Tymon Tymański and the duets LASY and Hałva; he also plays in Tobiasz Biliński’s band Perfect Son and was a member of the now defunct delay_ok. Most importantly, since 2019 he has been intensively developing his solo project wh0wh0, through which he is perfecting his individual drumming style. The fruition of this process is his debut album “Self-Titled” released by the 3-city Coastline Northern Cuts label. ★ „wh0wh0 is able to single-handedly create insane passages rivaling the intensity of those usually being dropped by Autechre or Aphex Twin. And they are not your run-of-the-mill half-empty technical wizardry stunts - these you genuinely want to listen on repeat” - Bartek Chaciński ★ „those 40 minutes feel like a run-through of the current European electronic music scene, echoing Kompakt, Ninja Tune or Warp Records back catalogues. With one significant distinction: whereas many electronic music creators are over-relying on sophisticated production software or technological advancements, and the amount of equipment used doesn’t necessarily translate to desired quality - he creates his music live using drums. And that as if he had as many as four arms” - Jakub Knera ★ „despite playing drums solo, Jacek has displayed a wide spectrum of electronic music on this record - you can hear influences as varied as footwork, trap, hip-hop, techno, ambient and math rock - even deconstructed club and avantgarde” - Coastline Northern Cuts
